The name 'Mayah' means "Close to God". She is the Alpha Dog of the pack.
Mayah started her life in the sledding realm when I did in 2012. She was already 3 years old, but learned fairly fast. She is very smart! I started her in lead, then moved her to wheel position. As I grew my team, she no longer enjoyed being part of a growing pack of faster dogs, so I retired her. She currently lives a very happy life with my parents. Mayah has Zinc Responsive Dermatosis, a condition found in Northern Breeds that prevents them from absorbing the necessary amounts of zinc from their food. In summer of 2012 she lost much of the hair on her muzzle and had scabs and sores on her muzzle. But once it was diagnosed I started her on supplements and it cleared up. I was giving her zinc supplements daily until I had her on Nutrisource dog food for a year and found I no longer had to continue the supplements.
She's momma's little girl. I had her since she was 5 weeks old (WAY too young! The "breeder" sold all of her brothers & sisters at 5 weeks and the home was then unsafe for puppies, so I had no choice).
We'll get in arguments at times (she's a very dominate dog and never learned manners due to being away from her family so young), but we both love each other.
